In 1991 Quantum Devices Inc (QDI) began developing its ‘HEALS™’ technology in partnership with NASA, as a way of promoting plant growth in space. The use of a high intensity LED light, which emitted energy in the near infra red spectrum demonstrated that this red light wavelength could boost the energy metabolism of cells to activate plant growth and photosynthesis, providing a valuable source of oxygen and food in space. In 1993 the light sources made their space shuttle flight debut.

When NASA determined the red LED’s could grow plants in space, the Marshall Space Flight Center awarded QDI several contracts to investigate the effectiveness of the product in medical applications, focusing on increasing the energy in human cells. NASA’s hope was that the LED’s would not only yield medical benefits on earth, but they would stem the loss of bone and muscle mass in astronauts which occur during long periods of weightlessness. Furthermore, since skin wounds are slow to heal in a micro gravity environment, HEALS therapy could accelerate healing and keep what would be termed as minor wounds on Earth from becoming mission

Extensive clinical trials along with continued support from NASA and follow on grants from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) helped QDI and The Medical College of Wisconsin to fully transition space technology into a new, non invasive medical device called the WARP 10™. The Warp 10 was initially designed to aid armed forces personnel on the front line with immediate first aid care for minor injuries and pain. The U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Navy are currently using Warp 10’s in elite Special Forces teams and submarine crews.

QDI has since launched a consumer OTC (over the counter) version of the device, which the FDA has cleared for the treatment of Arthritis, muscle and joint pain.

Laboratory studies have shown that the technology has a healing effect by increasing the energy inside human cells, causing them to grow and replicate damaged tissue 150-200 percent faster than those not stimulated by such light. The device delivers 80 times more photon energy than a 250-Watt heat lamp, yet it remains cool to the touch. The power advantage reduces the treatment time required for each therapeutic session. It has a preset 88 second treatment session, with the majority of people seeing vast improvements from only 2 sessions a day. Completely safe and approved by the UK Medical Authorities, the device delivers the therapeutic treatment without the harmful effects of ultraviolet solar radiation.

To use the device you simply place it against the area of pain. Studies have shown that the photon effect can travel up to 23 centimeters into the body’s tissues, allowing deep relief.
